Green wedding: a sustainable trend

While weddings have been accused of being wasteful in many ways, they most certainly don’t have to be. With a little bit of planning and thought, it’s possible to have an epic celebration while minimising your impact on the environment.
Here are a few tips to help you plan a more sustainable wedding.
Firstly we believe you should get married wherever your heart desires but choosing a location that is attainable for most of your guests means fewer plane and car journeys –less airplane and car emissions. You could opt to do all of your wedding correspondence digitally to avoid paper wastage, but personally we love a paper invite so why not give back to the environment with plantable wedding invitations, which are embedded with seeds. This can also be used for your place cards and thank you cards.
Flowers are the essence of every table arrangement so find a florist that sources locally grown flowers and then donate your leftover flowers to brighten hospitals, nursing homes or give them to a charitable cause.
The same concept can be used for your catering. Use caters that locally source their ingredients and that will donate some of your left over food to the homeless.
There’s no clear definition of sustainable fashion, for your wedding day choose a dress that is aligned with your eco- minded values. Whether it’s vintage, rented, past down from our mother, custom made or off the rack, this is your special day and your own personal choice.
We love the idea of gifting your wedding guests with an eco- friendly wedding favor that they will truly love!
